THE BRIEF

A set of snake illustrations, turned into patterns and specific garment designs for acclaimed New Zealand fashion designer Kylee Davis. Kylee Davis is a knitwear designer who uses illustration in her work in several ways, including digital printing and turning an illustration into an integrated knitted design by professional knitters.

The brief was to create snakes that would complement her latest collection that was jungle inspired.

THE PROCESS

The designs went through several stages with different colours, added ornaments and varying snake shapes to come up with the final creations. These included an ornamental duo coloured flower shape made of snakes (multiplied as a pattern on trousers) and cobras facing each other as 2 singular snakes or multiplied as a necklace shape.

THE RESULT

The collaboration was very successful and I really enjoyed seeing my work morph into more sculptural versions that are tactile and inspire the wearer in a different way than 2-dimensional art does.
