THE BRIEF
Sleepy Magic is a book for parents who seek a better bedtime and meditation routine for their kids.
This is a complete book cover design based on illustration including hand lettered title, end papers, small illustration symbols for decoration and 3 additional story illustrations. I also created 2 diagram and informative illustrations, explaining chakras and a circular flow of creation. The style is dreamy and soft coloured which appeals to children and adults alike, which is important as they are reading through the book together.
Additionally to the book, I created social media branding from the imagery, like a facebook banner and a manifesto poster to download.
The book is a step by step night-time ritual combines meditation, affirmation and imagination and makes it easy for children to be calm, create a bond with their parents and sleep well.

THE PROCESS
The development for the cover went through several layout designs and moved from a darker colour scheme to a more dreamy, blue toned one. We also tried different typography treatments until we reached the final version as well.

I also created several designs as promotional/ marketing and additional products for Danielle. There is a downloadable Manifesto Poster to hang on the wall as positive reinforcement for kids, a donation chart for her charity showing a book tower illustration I created custom for her and facebook banners, as well as affirmation cards which can be used in conjunction with the book
THE RESULTS
Where do I start? Ina is a brilliant, talented, creative, clever, professional illustrator and a pure joy to work with. I was searching for a certain style and on a whim asked my editor if she knew anyone she directed me to Ina's site. I almost fell off my chair when I saw her work. She was the one.
Creatively we were a match made in heaven and with a few concepts in mind Ina crafted the most magical illustrations for Sleepy Magic. The cover represents the beauty within the book and parents very much resonate with it's dreamy bedtime feel. I love how she mixes traditional techniques and the computer to create unique and one of a kind illustrations. I adored working with Ina and can't wait for us to work on our next project.
The book became highly successful. After a promising start with sales via the website, Danielle was picked up by a publisher for a distribution deal and can now be found in many many bookstores all over Australia, including Dymocks, WHSmith and Target.
After I created an ebook version of the book for Danielle, she added it to Amazon and quickly became a bestselling author in her category.
