THE BRIEF
Kris Emery is an editor for aspiring and self published authors who need help with their editing of their manuscripts so that they will be published to a high standard. She is passionate about helping authors on their journey to publishing and has written a book on how to achieve this dream without tearing your hair out.
She had an existing draft for her cover where some elements, like the title treatment and colours were to her liking, but the book needed a more personal touch, like a custom illustration and better layout for the back page. The book was to be published on both Amazon KDP and Ingram Spark.

The existing draft was already a great start but needed refinement
On the left is the first draft of the cover which had some elements Kris wanted to keep: the title treatment and the fonts. She wanted a custom illustration, so we started with that.
The illustration I created had more resemblance to Kris herself and also a more lighthearted style. We were also considering dashed lines to create a pathway of sorts which would lead to the destination pin in the title. This connects all the elements a bit better.
THE RESULTS
The final cover has a much improved layout and the elements blend together successfully. There are continuous elements like the travel path and destination pin that connects the front to the back side of the cover and the colour scheme pops. The hot pink background for the author bio is as energetic as Kris herself. The fonts are modern and clean and go with the illustration and colours.
The book was successfullylaunched on both Amazon platforms and Ingram Spark. Kris was very satisfied with the outcome and the book has done very well on the publishing charts of Amazons for Business advice.
